About

James Simpkins, (Owner/Principal), boasts nearly three decades of experience in the realm of gastronomy, with a focus on American food culture, high-end hospitality, and science-driven cuisine. His expertise is further solidified by an M.A. in American food studies. Notably, he has also published an academic article on the influence of French culinary culture in the US.
During his tenure in San Francisco, Simpkins lent his vision to Silicon Valley food-tech firms, NYT Best-Sellers (Tim Ferriss's The 4-Hour Chef), and writing Allagash: The Cookbook for Allagash Brewing Company in Portland, Maine. As welll, James has contributed to the burgeoning cannabis culture, crafting gourmet edibles, and providing an accurate cultural perspective for creators in the new consumer market.
Beyond culinary prowess, Simpkins is fluent in Portuguese, and has a decent command of French. He currently splits his time between the US and Brazil, accompanied by his wife Barbara and their daughter, Sophia. When not immersed in kitchen life, James enjoys coffee, being near the ocean, fishing, and being a girl-dad.
